New Turkish Ambassador to TRNC presents letter of credence to President Tatar

Newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa, Metin Feyzioğlu on Monday presents his letter of credence to President Ersin Tatar.

The newly appointed Turkish Ambassador was greeted with a military ceremony upon his arrival at the presidency.

President Ersin Tatar received the newly appointed Turkish Ambassador to Lefkoşa Metin Feyzioğlu on Monday morning.

Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu and Presidential Undersecretary Okan Donangil were also present during the ceremony.

Feyzioğlu, who was appointed as Türkiye’s Ambassador to Lefkoşa on October 6, presented his letter of credence to President Ersin Tatar at the presidential palace.

Speaking during the ceremony, President Ersin Tatar said that he was happy to see Mr. Feyzioğlu in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and looked forward to working with him.

He also wished Ambassador Feyzioğlu success during his term in the TRNC.

Turkish Ambassador Feyzioğlu for his part brought Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s well wishes to President Ersin Tatar.

He said that he was very proud to be able to serve as the 15^th Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

“Please be sure that I will do my best to further advance the exceptional relations between Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in every field during my tenure” said Feyzioğlu and added that the unique bond between Türkiye and the Turkish Cypriot people will give him strength during his term.

Touching upon the historical speech delivered by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the United Nations General Assembly, Feyzioğlu called on the whole world to recognize the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

He said the inhumane isolation enforced against the Turkish Cypriots must end now.

“The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, which is undoubtedly an independent and sovereign state according to international law, should now be recognized by third states” said Feyzioğlu.

Noting that with the determined and strong leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the skillful diplomacy carried out by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus entered the Organization of Turkic States with an observer status with the status of a sovereign and independent state, Feyzioğlu said that this membership is a big step towards recognition.

“Everyone should know it is the Greek Cypriot administration that does not want peace and tranquillity on the island of Cyprus and continues to violate the rights of Turkish Cypriots every day before the eyes of the world” said the Turkish Ambassador and added that there is only one realistic and sustainable solution in Cyprus.

“That is acknowledging the existence of two sovereign states with equal international status” he said and added that the Turkish Cypriot people’s and the Turkish nation’s causes are justified.

“Our nation stands behind this cause with an unwavering will. The Republic of Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will succeed, hand in hand” said Feyzioğlu.
