Man arrested in Lefkosa for selling banana brought from the south in north Cyprus

Turkish Cypriot police on Wednesday night arrested a man for selling bananas brought from the south.

Police said the suspect who sells fruit was arrested for selling bananas from the south in a makeshift market located Terminal, Lefkosa, north Cyprus. 

Police in a statement said the suspect, 36-year-old TY, placed the duty-free bananas on his counter and offered them for sale. 

In further investigation carried out on the matter, it was determined that TY bought the bananas in question from the south of Cyprus and passed them to the north of Cyprus illegally. 

The police reported that, as part of the investigation, bananas weighing about 100 kg was seized as evidence and the person in question was arrested.
