4,041 people did amnesty already, 4,900 people involved in crimes deported, more and illegal people will be deported

Around 4,041 people has so far taken advantage of the amnesty program introduced by the TRNC government in 2022.

According to the TRNC Minister of Interior during a TV broadcast on Thursday, this amnesty program will be the last one issued by the government and any foreigners who make trouble and commit crime will be deported.

Talking about the steps taken and the work carried out in order to ensure national security and public peace, Öztürkler said that they are in a much better position than yesterday.

On Amnesty program
Öztürkler said that they have issued an immigration amnesty for the last time in order to register the foreigners who will stay in the country and that 4,041 people have become regular by benefiting from the amnesty. He said 4,900 people who were involved in crime, irregular and trouble were deported. He said that these studies should be considered together.

He stated that foreigners who will stay in the TRNC must comply with the culture and legal rules of the country. “Everyone has to comply with the legal rules of this country. This country has a culture, laws, laws. Foreigners who come here should respect this,” adding that foreigners who do not abide by these rules and make a habit of living informally will be deported.

Immigration Amnesty will expire on February 3, 2023, I would like to make our last call to foreigners who have been irregular to take advantage of it until this date.

Both Police Immigration and Immigration Systems of our Ministry were restructured. When the Immigration Amnesty ends, the illegal people will be identified quickly. We also receive serious support from our people in this regard. I know that the people of the TRNC are with us in this struggle. Our people give the best response to the smear campaigns of some circles against us. Once again, I promise our people that our determined stance will continue.”

Emphasizing the need to fight against illegality, Öztürkler said, “This issue is a vital issue for our country. We must act together. We all have a responsibility to protect the TRNC and our people," he said.

E-Visa Automation System
Speaking on the e-Visa Automation System, the Minister said it will bring strict entry and exit control in and out of the country and will have 7 different checkpoints.

“One of our most important projects within the scope of digital transformation studies is the E-Visa Automation System. The E-Visa Project is also a part of the digital transformation efforts. The tender process of the E-Visa Automation System, which is one of our basic visions, is completed and a protocol has been signed with the winning company at the end of December. Efforts are underway to complete the E-Visa software within two hundred days and to put it into operation by working with all stakeholders. When the testing phase of the E-Visa System, which is one of the reinforcing elements of the steps taken for the protection of national security and peace, is completed, the number of visa-applied countries will be increased with the experience we will gain and the elimination of deficiencies.
