71 accidents, 1 dead, 23 injured in the last one week

There were 71 traffic accidents in the country between January, 16-22 with 1 person reported dead and 23 people were injured.

According to the weekly police traffic report, the causes of the said accidents are; “driving at high speed (19), driving recklessly (15), not stopping at the intersection (17), following closely (12) and other factors (8)”.

31 accidents occurred in Lefkosia, 17 in Girne, 13 in Famagusta, 6 in Güzelyurt and 4 in İskele with damages worth 7 million 259,300 TL.

On the other hand, during the traffic controls carried out throughout the country, 1400 vehicle drivers were reported from 11,339 vehicle drivers who were found to have committed crimes.

Reported traffic offenses are as follows:

Talking on a mobile phone while driving (250), driving without a license to navigate (229), speeding (202), not obeying traffic signs and signs (179), driving without a seat belt (81), driving without inspection (78), driving while drunk driving without insurance (44), driving without insurance or coverage (44), reckless driving (32), driving without an "A" road use permit (12), dangerous driving (9), driving without a driving license (6), not obeying traffic lights (4), "b" private business driving without permission (3), carrying more than its tonnage or dangerous cargo (2), not having a taximeter in the taxi or not operating the meter while carrying passengers or operating fraudulently (2), using a motorcycle without a protective helmet (1) , and other crimes 222.”
