Man assaults girlfriend, bite her in the cheek

A man reportedly assaulted his girlfriend following a disagreement between them and also battered her both at home and in the car. 

The incident happened on January, 7. The man identified only as MK was arrested and taken to court on Friday on charges of "Serious Battering", "Abduction", "Detention" and "Intentional Damage".

Police in a court statement said the suspect battered his girlfriend of 5 months named I.Ç, while they were arguing in a house where they were guests. The man bite the woman the cheek.

The police stated that after the suspect and the complainant went to their residence in Minareliköy, he dragged the woman by the arms to his bedroom, locked the door of the room and severely battered her.

The woman was able to escape from the window of the room, but the man came after her and beat the complainant in the vehicle.

The police said that the complainant first filed a complaint with the police on January 10, 2023, but withdrew her complaint on the same day, and then on January 11, she gave an additional statement, declaring that she was traumatized, and complained about the suspect.

The police stated that the suspect also filed a complaint on the grounds that the complainant had beaten him too.

The police stated that the investigation, which could affect the suspect, has been completed and demanded that the court released him on bail with an appropriate guarantee in order to ensure that the suspect is present at his trial.

The suspect was released on bail and to face trial in the future. He was banned from going abroad, to report to the police once a week, deposits 10,000 TL in cash, and that two credible TRNC citizen guarantors to sign a personal surety bond worth 150 thousand TL.
