5.1 magnitude earthquake in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 occurred on Saturday night in the Göksun district of Kahramanmaraş, Turkey.

The earthquake caused panic in the city.

According to information released by the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), a 5.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Göksun district at 11.31pm on Saturday, Feb. 18.

The depth of the earthquake was determined as 12.18 kilometers.

This is coming 13 days after a devastating earthquake struck southern Turkey on February 6 killing over 40,000 people.

Tarık Mermer, who witnessed the quake said, "We felt a very slight shaking. I came voluntarily. We are working actively in the field. When there is a tremor, we actually do not feel much because we work in the field. We got used to these situations. There was a slight shaking. Destruction. didn't happen," he said.
