51 traffic accidents in a week

One person died and 12 people were injured in 51 traffic accidents that took place between February 20-26.

According to a statement by the Police Press Officer, one of the accidents that occurred last week resulted in death, 10 injuries and 40 damage.

Causes of traffic accidents that occurred during the period; speeding (16), careless driving (11), not stopping at the intersection (9), close following (7) and other factors (8).

As a result of the accidents, a total damage of 2,294,500 TL  was incurred.

The distribution of accidents by district is as follows:

“Lefkcosia 19, Famagusta 9, Kyrenia 16, Güzelyurt 2, Pier 5.”

On the other hand, during the police inspections between February 20-26, a total of 12,257 vehicle drivers were checked across the country, and 1,648 vehicle drivers who were found to have committed crimes were reported and legal action was initiated against them.

The distribution of crimes is as follows:

“Speeding (396), talking on a mobile phone while driving (254), driving without a license for navigation (252), not obeying traffic signs and signs (88), driving without a seat belt (72), driving without inspection (38), drinking alcohol driving (32), reckless driving (21), driving without insurance or out of scope (18), driving without a driving license (9), not obeying traffic lights (5), dangerous driving (3), "a" road use unauthorized vehicle driving (3), “b” private business driving without permission (1) and 456 other traffic offenses.”
