Police warns of fake money in circulation

The police has announced that a total of 1,100 counterfeit dollars consisting of 100 banknotes were seized from circulation in Alsancak and warned citizens that there may be a possibility that these counterfeit money may have been released earlier.

The police called on individuals and institutions holding "100 US Dollars" to be careful, and report any suspects to the nearest police station.

In the statement made by the PGM-Press Officer, it was stated that on February 19, it was determined that a total of 1100 fake US Dollars, consisting of 100 banknotes were found in the possession of a suspect who put them into circulation in Alsancak, and the serial numbers of the fake 100 US Dollars in circulation were shared as follows:

“KB59742899CB2, KB59742906CB2, KB64742936CB2, KB64742924CB2, KB59733931CB2, KB59743506CB2, KB64734852CB2, KB59733871CB2, KB30436550CB2, KB30442149CB2, KB64736063CB2.”            

"As there is a possibility that these counterfeit notes may have been released before now, they can buy, sell and exchange money with banks, foreign exchange companies, financial institutions, markets and citizens who hold '100 US Dollars' denominations starting with the serial numbers indicated. The people and institutions that will do this are kindly requested to be very careful, and to report the suspects to the nearest police station," the statement said.
