Man assaults and beat uncle in Lefkosa for scaring his child

In a case described as strange, a man who was arrested for assaulting his uncle for frightening his child by knocking on the door and window of his uncle's house will be tried in court.

The suspect, a Turkish Cypriot, named only as İ.Y., in an incident that happened in Müftü Hilmi Street in Lefkosa on Sunday, April, 23 battered his uncle with a lighter gas cylinder, knocked the door and window of his house" just to ask why he frightened his child". 

He was arrested and taken to court on Thursday on charges of "Injury, assault, drunkenness, disturbance, use of fowl language and inappropriate attitude and action".

Police who testified against the suspect in court said, the suspect went to his uncle, Yasin Yağmur's house on Müftü Hilmi Street in Lefkosa on Sunday to ask him why he scared his child. He used swore words, knocked on the door and window of the house, hit his uncle on the head several times with the sharp bottom edge of a metal lighter gas tube.

The police stated that the lighter gas cylinder used in the incident was found on the street, and was taken as evidence.

The police said that the suspect was identified by the members of the police who arrived at the scene and arrested with force.

Police demanded that the court see appropriate security in order to ensure that the suspect was present during trial.

Evaluating the testimony given in court, the judge released the suspect on bail, banned him from going abroad, report to the police one day a week, deposits 15,000TL cash collateral, and bring 2 guarantors to sign a bail bond of 200,000 TL.
