Six accidents in one night, 4 as a result of drunk driving

Three people were injured in 6 separate accidents on Saturday night with 4 of them as a result of drunk driving, one of which was 16 years old.

According to police report, one of the accidents happened at around 10:30pm on Saturday, April, 8 on the Famagusta-Lefkcosia Main Road when one, Aykut Türkmen, 27 lost control of the vehicle due to careless driving while under the influence of alcohol. 

He hit the front side of a vehicle in front of him at the Hamitköy roundabout. He was injured in the accident and taken to the Lefkosa generl hospital where he is under observation.

The second accident happened at around 11:00pm on Saturday in front of Koruk Market on İsmet İnönü Boulevard in Famagusta when Furkan Sünmez, 24 crashed into Oğuzhan Tokatlı, 20, who was crossing the road on foot due to careless driving. Oğuzhan Tokatlı, whose right leg was broken in the accident, was taken to the Famagusta State Hospital, while the driver of the vehicle, was arrested.

The third accident happened at around 2:00am on Sunday, April, 9 on the Famagusta-Iskele Main Road when Amin Borji, 19 was driving under the influence of alcohol lost control of the vehicle near Eyva round about. The car crashed into paving stones. No one was injured as a result of the accident, vehicle driver was arrested.

The fourth accident happened in İskele Ceasar Resort on Sunday morning when, Petr Isıakın, 37 who was driving carelessly under the influence of alcohol hit a car parked by the side of the road from behind. The impact of the crash caused the parked vehicle to be thrown forward and then hit another vehicle chich was parked on the side of the road. No one was injured in the accident, vehicle driver Petr Isiakın was arrested.

The fifth accident involving a 16-year-old driver happened in on Atatürk Street, Gönyeli when the teenager identified as Mehmet Ali Koç who was driving carelessly crashed into the back of a vehicle that was about to enter a street. No one was injured in the accident. Mehmet Ali Koç was arrested for driving without a driving license and without insurance coverage.

The sixth accident happened on the Lefkosa-Girne Main Road at around 4:40am on Sunday when Mustafa Öztürk, 28 who was driving carelessly under the influence of alcohol lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and crashed into an embankment close to a slanting bend after the Lefkosa Northern Ring Road junction. He was taken to the Lefkosa Hospital for treatment.
