Drunk 60-year-old man allegedly harassed 13-year-old student sexually in Alsancak

Police have arrested and detained a drunk 60-year-old man for allegedly sexually harassing a 13-year-old student in Alsancak.

The incident happened on Wednesday, May, 10.

The suspect, a bus driver was arrested and taken to court on Thursday charge of "Sexual Abuse and Sexual Assault of a Child".

The suspect is alleged to have sexually abused and assaulted a 13-year-old student sitting next to him on the school bus by stroking her legs, when she was been taken from Alsancak to school in Girne on Wednesday.

The man also reportedly squeezed the breast of the child while she was alighting from the bus.

Stating that it was determined that the suspect, who was arrested after the incident, was also drunk, the police demanded his detention so that the investigation could be conducted safely.

Police said they will interview other students who were in the bus at the time and also examine video records of the routes taken by the bus.
