Four people injured in 4 different drunk driving accidents in north Cyprus

Four people, including 3 drivers and one pedestrian were arrested in 4 different traffic accidents that took place in the TRNC on Saturday night, with all of them under the influence of alcohol.

In the first incident, 3 people were injured in a drunk driving incident on the Famagusta-Karpaz main road in the early hours of this morning.

The accident occurred in front of the Exotic Hotel at around 12:40am on Sunday, when Dursun Güneş, 36, who was driving towards Karpaz, overtook the vehicle in front of him and in the process collided head-on with an oncoming pickup truck.

The driver of the oncoming vehicle and its passenger were also injured. They were all taken to Famagusta State Hospital where they remain under observation.

Police are investigating the accident.

Another one occurred on the Lefkosa -Guzelyurt Highway at around 11:15pm on Saturday. Police said Beytullah Ermiş, 53 was driving under the influence of alcohol when he hit a vehicle that had slowed down close to a traffic light from behind.

No one was injured in the accident.

In another incident in Çatalköy, a pedestrian, Muhammed Shazeel Khan, 29 was injured after he was hit by a vehicle.

The incident happened at around 10:30pm on Saturday Beşparmaklar Caddesi, Çatalköy when Süleyman Pempe, 41 who was driving a truck under the influence of alcohol lost control of the vehicle and crashed into Muhammed Shazeel Khan who was walking in the same direction as the vehicle.

The driver was arrested and the injured pedestrian was taken to the Lefkosa Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital for surgery.

In another incident in Guzelyurt, a driver, Eray Işık, 23 was driving under the influence of alcohol on Halit Kazım Street at around 2:00am on Sunday when he entered a Street carelessly and crashed into a vehicle parked by the side of the road.

No one was injured in the accident.
