Man sentenced to one year in prison for growing cannabis in Lefkosa

A Turkish Cypriot man has been sentenced to one year in prison for growing cannabis.

The defendant, Erdinç Canbaz, was sentenced to i year in prison on Wednesday after he was found guilty of growing 11 root cannabis and having approximately 6 grams of jute cannabis in his house in Lefkcosia.

The court judge delivering the judgement read the unanimous decision of the court stating that the accused Erdinç Canbaz grew 11 root cannabis seeds between January and March 2023, with a length of 5 to 20 centimeters, and saved approximately 6 grams of drugs.

Touching upon all the issues in favor and against the accused, the judge announced that they unanimously sentenced him to 1 year in prison.
