Three men arrested for animal theft in Haspolat

Three young men who were accused of stealing 4 lambs from a farm in Haspolat were arrested and brought to court at weekend.

Police pointed out that "unsolved animal thefts have increased" in the region.

With the approach of Eid-al-Adha, animal theft incidents started to increase in the country. On Friday, a new one was added to the animal thefts that occurred between May, 18-19 in Demirhan and Haspolat regions.

The suspects, E.Ü., Ş.B. and İ.ZS who were arrested in connection with the “sheep theft” that took place in Haspolat, were taken to court on Friday. 

Police stated that there are different cases of animal theft in the region and that the said incidents will be investigated through the suspects.

Police said the suspects entered someone else's dairy and stole 4 lambs, 1 of which was male.

Police said the suspects took the stolen animals to a chicken coop of a person named PZ in Girne. PZ called the police on them when he realized the situation. The lambs were recovered from them.

Stating that the investigation into the incident has just begun, the statements given must be confirmed, and that an investigation will be carried out on the "unsolved animal theft" in Demirhan and Lefkosa, the police demanded that the suspects be detained for 2 days in the first place.
