Drunk driver injured in accident

A 22-year-old man was injured in a traffic accident Korkuteli-Mutluyaka junctions on the Famagusta-Lefkcosia main road on Thursday.

The accident happened at around 6:30am on Thursday.

Police said 22-year-old Cem Şahin, a Turkish Cypriot was driving carelessly under the influence of alcohol towards the Mutluyaka junction on the double-lane road when he lost control of the steering wheel and hit the right rear part of a vehicle going in the same direction in the left lane.

His car somersaulted with the impact of the collision and landed on its roof.

Cem Şahin, who was slightly injured as a result of the accident was taken to the Famagusta State Hospital for treatment.
