Eleven people injured in series of accidents across the TRNC

Seven passengers in a mini bus were injured following an accident in front of the Lefkosa State Hospital on Saturday morning.

The incident happened at around 11:45am on Saturday near the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkosa when a 38-year old man, a Nigerian student collided with a public transport mini bus.

Seven people who were passengers in the bus were injured in the incident and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested by the police.

Police in a statement on the issue, said the driver of the car had lost control of the vehicle due to careless driving which made the car to cross the barrier in the middle of the road and crashed into a bus coming in the opposite direction.

In a similar development, 4 four people were injured when a drunk driver collided with a taxi in Çatalköy early Saturday morning.

The incident happened at around 4:15am on Saturday.

Police said a 25-year-old Turkish man was driving under the influence of alcohol when he recklessly entered the main road and collided with a taxi driver, 39 who was also driving very fast and carelessly on the main road.

The taxi went off the road and hit an advert post due to the impact of the collision. The vehicle reentered the road uncontrollably and finally stopped on the pavement.  

The drunker driver's vehicle also went off the road and crashed into a parked vehicle which was parked at a market place.

Both drivers, a 19-year-old and a 22-year-old who were passengers in the first vehicle, were injured and taken to Girne State Hospital for treatment.

Police launched an investigation into the incident.

In another incident in Girne, another driver was arrested for hitting a street light.

The incident happened at around 5:30am on Saturday on Karaoğlanoğlu Street in Girne when a 25-year-old man, a Nigerian student lost control of his vehicle and hit a street light on the pavement of the road. No one was injured in the accident.

Police said he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested by the police.
