Hit and run driver identified and arrested in Güzelyurt

A hit-and-run driver who hit and injured a 52-year-old woman in a traffic accident in Güzelyurt and then fled the scene of the accident has been identified and arrested by the police.

43-year-old Vural Kılıçoğlu was arrested on Saturday in connection with the incident after police reviewd camera images around the area.

He was taken to court on Sunday and detained for two days for more investigation to be carried out on the matter.

Ayşe Göktemiz, 52 was attempting to cross Ecevit Street near the Freedom Primary School in Güzelyurt at around 11:00pm on Friday night when she was hit by a car. 

The driver of the car fled the scene of the accident.

Göktemiz who was injured in the accident was taken to the Lefkcosia State Hospital hospital.
