Man beats his wife and sister-in-law in Gonyeli for disobeying him

A Turkish man has been accused of physically assaulting his wife and sitter-in-law in Gönyeli.

The accused named only as HY committed the assault at around 8:30pm on Wednesday, June, 28 on the grounds that he was angry because his wife refused to listen to him when he said don't go to the sea. 

He was arrested and taken to court on Thursday on charges of "causing injury, threat of violence, serious beating and violence against women". 

Police told the court that the accused swung a soda bottle towards his wife's seat, squeezed his wife's throat and physically assaulted her.

Police also stated that the suspect, after threatening to use violence against his wife, hit her left arm with a sharp part of an object causing a 7 cm incision.

He stated that in the same house, the suspect injured one G.Ç, his sister-in-law, by squeezing her throat and beat her on the grounds that she was taking his wife to the sea.

He also threatened to use violence by waving the knife in his hand, causing a 4 cm incision on her left ring finger and a 3 cm scratch on her left chin. 

Speaking in court, the accused said; "I didn't do anything on purpose, if I wanted to do it, I would throw the bottle on the wall, not on the wall, I would do what I would do there."

The police stated that the matter is a serious matter and the statements taken will be confirmed and refuted.

The court ordered the suspect to remain in police custody for 3 days for investigation purposes.
