Pakistani student assaulted by a Turkish man for staring at his girlfriend in Lefkosa

A man who assaulted and injured a Pakistani student for staring at his girlfriend has been arrested and will face trial in court.

The incident happened at around 12:45am on July, 11, 2023 in front of a bank in Lefkosa. 

The suspect named only as İ.Y, a Turkish national severely battered and injured 23-year-old Pakistani student named as A.M, who was walking on the street on the grounds that he was "staring at his girlfriend"

The suspect was identified from camera footage taken from the scene and an arrest warrant was issued against him. 

The suspect was identified and arrested on Saturday, July, 22. He was to court on Sunday on charges of assault.

The suspect made a statement that should be confirmed and refuted.

He was detained for a period of 3 days for more investigation.
