Disastrous accident on the Girne – Değirmenlik mountain road, north Cyprus

A part of the Girne – Değirmenlik mountain road was closed to traffic due to a disastrous traffic accident involving a car and a lorry on the road on Wednesday.

The incident between a lorry and a vehicle happened between 6-7 kilometers of the Girne – Değirmenlik mountain road at around 12:40pm on Wednesday.

The lorry driver, Fikret Kabak was driving from Kyrenia to Değirmenlik when he carelessly switched to the right side of the road close to slant bend and in the process hit and dragged a vehicle driven by one, Hasibe Bekiz, which was coming from the opposite direction towards Kyrenia,

The driver of the vehicle, Hasibe Bekiz who was injured in the accident, was rescued from the vehicle by firefighters. Nahide Garip, who was a passenger in the same vehicle was taken to the Lefkosa State Hospital. 

The truck driver Fikret Kabak was arrested.
