Thieves broke into the apartment of a Nigerian who was out of the country, stole his car and sold it for 60,000TL

He was away in Nigeria when they broke into his apartment, stole his properties, towed away his car parked in front of his apartment and sold it far less than what it's worth. 

The apartment of a Nigerian who was out of the country between February 26 and July 20 was broken into by two Turkish men who stole his properties and sold his Mercedes E 220 vehicle worth 30,000 pounds parked in front of his residence have been arrested along with the buyer.

The two suspects Orhan Cengizhan and Abdurrahman Demirbasan broke into the apartment of a Nigerian located in the Zeytinlik region of Kyrenia at different times, where they stole 3 televisions.

Not enough, they went ahead to tow away his Mercedes E 220 vehicle parked in front of the apartment.

They sold the vehicle to a Turkish Cypriot garage owner named as Mehmet Emin for 60,000TL, far less than its worth. 

The owner of the vehicle got wind of the theft and rushed by to Cyprus only to see that his apartment was looted and vehicle gone. 

An investigation was initiated into the incident following a complaint by the owner  which lead to the arrest of the suspects on Monday, August, 14 in Girne. They voluntarily testified and admitted their crimes.

They told the police that they stole the vehicle on July, 12 and took it to the garage owned by Mehmet operating in the Lefkosia Organized Industrial Zone on the same day and sold it for 60,000TL. Mehmet was arrested too for accepting and buying stolen vehicle at a price below its value, even though he knew that it was stolen.

The mobile phone of the suspect, Orhan had a photograph of the 60,000 TL check given by Mehmet.

Police said investigation has been completed into the matter stating that the suspect had no pending case and had no criminal record be fore the incident.

The court ordered the suspect to be released on bail on the condition that he deposit the sum of 8,000TL as collateral and present one guarantor to sign a bail bond of 150,000TL.

The owner of the vehicle who spoke to Olomoinfo explained what happened and advised other people to be careful of the new theft going on around in Cyprus.

According to him; "I traveled since February 26 earlier this year leaving my house locked and car parked in front of my home only to be called by a neighbor around July 14th that they can’t find my car in front of the house anymore. I had to rush back to Cyprus only to discover the whole house itself has been robbed. It was reported to the police and big thanks to them they found the car in a mechanic garage in lefkhosa bought by the mechanic. He bought a car worth 30k pounds for 60,000tl."
