Turkey cancels "Ok To Board" for people traveling to north Cyprus

The Turkish Ministry of Interior has suspended the traveling to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus using "Ok To Board" with immediate effect.

This was stated in a circular released by the ministry this week and came into effect, on Tuesday, August, 15, 2023.

According to the circular, all third country nationals traveling to the TRNC are now required to obtained a double transit visa. The double transit visa must be valid for round trips.

Those without a transit visa will not be allowed to fly with Turkish Airline. (We assume this is not the case with other airlines).

The new development has affected returning students with resident permit and prospective new student who have been left stranded in their home country after buying their tickets to return to north Cyprus.

Note: All international students are affected except Turkish students.

***This will definitely affect new students arrival and the return of old students.

  3. Are there any new updates regarding this issue? For us with single transit visas, do we need to reapply for double transit?
