Turkmenistan woman reportedly assaults 86 years old woman in Lefkosa

A 53-year-old Turkmenistan woman was on Saturday for assaulting an 86 years old woman in Lefkosa. 

The woman named only as GE, 53, a Turkmenistan national was arrested last week on allegations of seriously assaulting an 86-year-old Turkish Cypriot woman she was babysitting in the Marmara region of Lefkosa.

She was taken to a court in Lefkosa on charges of assault on Saturday.

Police said that marks of assault were detected on various parts of the woman's body.

Aside from allegations of assault, it was also alleged that the suspect constantly left the house at night leaving the woman alone all night.

Police said investigation launched into the allegations against the suspect has been completed.

It was determined that the suspect has been living in the north of Cyprus since 2011 and that her family is also in the country.

Police stated that the suspect's work permit has been revoked but still have a legal period of 40 days.

She was released on bail by the court on Monday.

She was ordered to pay  a deposit of 25,000 TL as collateral and get the two guarantors to sign a bail bond of 200,000 TL each.
