14 foreigners arrested for illegal residency in north Cyprus sent to prison

Turkish Cypriot police on Tuesday paraded in court 14 foreigners who were arrested for living in the TRNC without a resident permit.

Turkish Cypriot police during a raid carried out in Lefkosa on September, 9, 2023 identified and arrested 14 foreign nationals who were illegally staying in the country without a valid document.

They were taken to court at the weekend on charges of illegal residency. They were taken to court against on Tuesday where they were demanded to be detained for 20 days until trial.

Police officer who spoke in court against the suspects said the arrested;

-KBA, 32 (Unemployed-Bangladesh) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 2,155 days since October 15, 2017, 

-AR, 33 (Unemployed-Pakistan) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 151 days since April 10, 2023,

-HU, 47, (Unemployed-Bangladesh) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 162 days, 

-AR, 35, (Unemployed- Bangladesh) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 154 days,

-SU, 40, (Unemployed-Bangladesh) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 162 days, 

-OB, 38 (Unemployed-Nigeria) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 1225 days, 

-MLN, 33, (Unemployed- Cameroon) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 1374 days, 

-KN, 20, (Unemployed- Nigeria) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 343 days since 30 September 2022.

The above are still under investigation.

-DCN, 22, (Unemployed-Nigeria) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 885 days since 7 April, 2021, 

-ICC, 37, (Unemployed-Nigeria) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 1073 days since 30, September 2020, 

-KCO, 32, (Unemployed-Nigeria) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 343 days since 30, September 2022,

-EEO, 39, (Unemployed-Nigeria) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 343 days since 30, September 2022, and 

-MO, 31, (Unemployed-Nigeria) has been living illegally in the TRNC for 609 days since January 8, 2022. 

Investigation into the above have been completed.
