Police identify bodies found in car, claim it was murder and suicide

The police have identified the names of two people who were found dead in a car that fell over a cliff in the village of Kayalar, north Cyprus on Friday.

Police in a statement this morning said they found a vehicle believed to have fallen down a cliff by the sea on Geçitköy - Kayalar Road, in Seyir Tepe Locality at 11:30am on Friday.

The incident was described as murder and suicide.

Police in a press statement said the dead bodies found in the vehicle that fell into the cliff by the sea on Geçitköy - Kayalar Road were that of Emrah YILMAZ, male, 38 and Kübra AYDIN, female, 37.

Describing the incident, police said the incident happened between the hours of 10:21 - 11:00pm on Thursday, September, 14 when for an unknown reason, Emrah YILMAZ stabbed Kübra AYDIN ​​to death in her rented residence ​​in Haspolat. He then put her in his vehicle and went to Seyir Tepe Location on Geçitköy - Kayalar Road and then drove his vehicle towards the cliff, falling approximately 60 meters down and committed suicide.  

The dead bodies of both people were found inside the subject vehicle.  

It was learned that Yılmaz is a father of two children.

According to other report on the matter, it was learned that Kübra Aydın had called 155 last night and asked for help from the police, and Emrah Yılmaz was declared a wanted person by the police around 9:00pm last night. It is also stated that Emrah Yılmaz called his family and confessed that he killed Kübra Aydın.

The investigation into the incident continues.
