Six arrested and detained for living illegally in the TRNC

Another six foreigners living illegally in the TRNC were identified and rested by Turkish Cypriot police on Monday as the police continues its immigration control across the country. 

Police in a statement on Tuesday said it arrested 6 people who were in the country without residence permit during inspections and controls carried out by the police throughout the country on Monday.

Police said legal proceeding has been launched against them while in detention.

In similar development, 2 people were also arrested on Sunday across the country for living illegally in the TRNC with out a resident permit.

One of them identified as MO, a Nigerian was arrested in Lefkosa on Sunday and the other named only as SM, 29, a Zimbabwean who was also arrested in Lefkosa was found to have been living illegally in the TRNC for 129 days since, June, 29, 2023. He came into the country with a 60-day student visa and did not get a resident permit.

They were detained for 20 days till trial on court order.
