Landlord arrested for breaking into tenant's apartment to steal money, devices and gold

A Turkish Cypriot landlord has landed himself in trouble for allegedly stealing money, electronics and gold from one of his apartment after changing the keys to the apartment while the occupant was away.

The landlord was arrested following a complaint by the tenant and then charged to court on Thursday last week for theft and unauthorized entry.

Speaking in court, police said suspect named only as CO who lives in Haspolat reportedly damaged and changed the keys on the outside door of the tenant's apartment, gaining entrance into the apartment.

Police said he stole 1200 Sekel Israeli money, 500 Dinar money, 350 GBP, 1, 22 carat Bracelet, 6 quarter gold coins and various clothing items. Other stolen items are Canon brand camera, Lenova brand Bluetooth headset.

The suspect told police that he broke into the apartment because the tenant left the house with his deposit and did not leave the key.

The police officer stated that the investigation was completed and requested that the suspect be released on bail.

The court having evaluated the testimony before it, released the suspect on bail on the condition that he pays a cash guarantee of 20,000 TL and bring two guarantors to sign a surety bond of 200,000 TL each.
