One person caught with cannabis in Güzelyurt, 5 others arrested for illegal residency

One person was arrested and detained in Güzelyurt after he was found with drugs and 5 others were identified and arrested for living in the TRNC without a resident permit.

25-year-old GKE was arrested by police teams from the Güzelyurt Police Department during a traffic search in Güzelyurt on Wednesday night.

During the search, police said they flagged down the vehicle of the suspect for control purpose following a suspicious movements of the suspect.

Police said they found approximately 7 grams of a substance believed to be cannabis-type narcotic in the possession of the suspect which was taken as evidence.

In another development, five people were identified and arrested by police for living in the TRNC without a resident permit.

They were arrested during a control carried across the TRNC.

Legal proceedings were initiated against them.
