Man steals, change locks and rented out flats of owners who are out of the TRNC

A man who rented out two different flats to two different persons in Famagusta has been arrested for changing the locks of the flats and stealing from them.

Police said the incident happened between Oct-Nov., 2023.

According to police report, the suspect named only as O.Ö., 45, a Turkish national rented out two flats in Famagusta to other persons between October-November 2023, after stealing and selling the items inside the flats and changing the locks.

One of the flats was in the Kaliland Region, and the owner was abroad. The suspect stole 1 washing machine, 1 refrigerator and 1 water dispenser from the house, and rented the house to another person for 150 Euros.

Again, he stole a television from the other house and rented the flat to another person for two months for 16,000 TL.  

Police said investigation into the incidents is continuing.
