Cost of living goes up in north Cyprus

 

The inflation rate for the month of November has been announced as 4.42 per cent.

According to a statement from the Statistics Institute, the cost of living increased by 74.16 per cent compared to the same month of the previous year and by 81.99 per cent compared to the same month of the year before that.

There was an increase in the average prices of 593 items, while 41 items experienced a decrease.

According to the data released, there was a 74.16 per cent change compared to the previous year’s December and an 81.99 per cent change compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to the announcement from the Statistics Institute, the highest increase by main expenditure groups was recorded in the communication subgroup with a 13.03 per cent rise compared to the previous month.

There was an 11.87 per cent increase in the prices of furniture, household appliances, and home care services subgroup and a 10.43 per cent increase in the clothing and footwear subgroup.

Compared to the previous month, there was an increase in the average prices of 593 items in the index, while the average prices of 41 items decreased.

The top three items with the highest price increase were contact lenses with a 61.25 per cent increase, digital cameras with a 55.48 per cent increase, and sofas and couches with a 50.79 per cent increase.

The top three items with the highest price decrease were eggplants with a 44.04 per cent decrease, zucchinis with a 39.51 per cent decrease, and green beans with a 38.36 percent decrease.
