Greek Cypriots celebrates Christmas underwater at Nemesis shipwreck

Greek Cypriot fivers dressed as Santa Claus celebrated Christmas on Monday when they went beneath the waves at the Nemesis shipwreck off the coast of Protaras, southern Cyprus.

This is the seventeenth consecutive year, Greek Cypriots who are members of the Summer Divers club will celebrate Christmas under the waters in a tradition that began in 2007.

Every Christmas, the divers don Santa Claus outfits, exchange gifts, decorate a tree, and enjoy champagne underwater, marking the holiday season in their unique way.

The ‘Summer Divers’ club was established in June 2006, by NAUI Instructor Charalambos Constantinou.
