Man detained for sharing ex-wife's sexually explicit images

A man who, who allegedly sent sexually explicit images of his ex-wife to her aunt, was arrested and detained.

The suspect was arrested by the police in Lefkosia on Sunday and taken to court on Monday on charges of privacy violation.

Police told the court that the suspect did not delete the sexually explicit images he had taken of his ex-wife, but sent them to his ex-wife's aunt via WhatsApp.

Police said his arrest warrant was issued upon a complaint made on November 11.

The police announced that the investigation has just begun and that there are phone records that need to be examined.

The police officer stated that the suspect was asked for an explanation, that he made some statements, and that these would be investigated.

The suspect, who spoke after the police, said that he did not accept the allegations.

The suspect stated that they had a consensual divorce, that he was in Turkey recently, and that his ex-wife called him on the phone and told him that she would file a complaint with the police if he came to Cyprus.

The suspect claimed that his ex-wife also reported her ex-husband, to whom she was married before, to the police and had him deported.

The judge who evaluated the testimony given in court ordered the suspect to be detained for 3 days.
