Man steals thousands from foreign exchange office in north Cyprus, arrested at Ercan Airport while trying to escape

The police in north Cyprus on Monday said it arrested two people in connection with a theft at a foreign exchange office operating in Kyrenia.

Two people were arrested within the scope of the investigation carried out regarding the money stolen from a foreign exchange office operating in Kyrenia, Turkish Cypriot police said in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, one GS, 30, who was working in a foreign exchange office operating in Kyrenia on Sunday stole 62,250 TL, $12,266, 10,000 Euros belonging to the business, which were kept in a safe. He was also found to have stolen 2,095 Stg in cash.

In further investigation carried out after the incident came to the notice of the police, the person in question was detected and arrested at Ercan Airport as he was leaving north Cyprus.

One MTF, 32, who was found to be connected to the issue was arrested by the police within the scope of the investigation.
