Man detained in north Cyrus for stealing from a car in Lefkosia

A man who stole money and goods from a vehicle in Lefkosia, will be detained for another 7 days as part of the investigation into the incident.

The suspect, SK, a Turkish national was brought before the Lefkosia district court on Monday for the second time on charges of theft.

Police told the court that the suspect stole £50, tablets, cigarettes and a lighter from a vehicle belonging to one VM which was parked on Erdoğan Yıldırım Street in Lefkosia on January 24, 2024. 

Police stated that the suspect was arrested on January 25. 

Police said half a gram of drugs were found on him and seized during a search carried out on the suspect.

Police stated that the stolen money and items have not been found yet adding that many similar unsolved thefts occurred in the Lefkosia region and that the suspect's connection with these incidents will be investigated.

Police stated that the drugs found on the suspect would be sent for analysis and requested that he be detained for another 7 days.
