Three students arrested for drugs in North Cyprus

Three students who were caught with 2 kilos of drugs during a police operation carried out in Lefkcosia, north Cyprus were detained for 3 days.

The three suspects, O.K, A.M and M.C, all Nigerians were caught with 2 kilos of drugs during a police operation carried out at around 6:30pm on Saturday, Dec., 30, on Ahmet Sami Topcan Street in Lefkosia.

They were taken to court on Sunday, Dec., 30 on drugs charges.

Police stated that during the operation, O.K was identified and arrested using reasonable force while he was trying to escape.

5,000 TL cash obtained from drug sales, 29 packages of drugs weighing approximately 30 grams ready for sale, was found in his possession.

The suspect A.M, who was detected at the scene of the incident and believed to be connected to the issue, was also arrested. 

The police stated that a search was subsequently carried out in the apartment where O.K and M.C stayed together in Gönyeli.

During the search, 2 kilograms of drug and three sensitive scales believed to have drug residue were found and taken as evidence.

Police stated that the investigation was continuing adding that, the suspects gave voluntary statements, the seized substances would be sent for analysis, and that 2 people were wanted, and requested a detention period of 3 days.
