Booking.com warns of threats to human rights in north Cyprus to intending travelers

Booking.com has issued a warning about threats to human rights to travelers who intends to visit Northern Cyprus.

Booking.com, a Netherlands-based online travel agency for accommodation reservations and other travel services, made some statements against TRNC tourism which may have a significant impact on visitors' travel plans.

In the statement, Booking.com warned about threats to human rights and pointed out that conscious decisions should be made about accommodation and travel plans.

The statement states that there may be restrictions on border crossings between the Republic of Cyprus and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and that travelers must enter the Republic of Cyprus through certain entry points.

It also stated that the northern part of Cyprus declared itself as the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus" in 1983 and that the Republic of Cyprus did not recognize its sovereignty over this region, therefore the entrances from Ercan Airport are not considered "legal".

Such a statement may cause potential visitors to re-evaluate their decision to travel to the region.

In particular, warnings are made about threats to human rights and it is emphasized that conscious decisions should be made about accommodation and travel plans.
