Police in north Cyprus nabs man who hid 110,000 TL worth of drug in toilet

Turkish Cypriot police said it found half a kilo of drugs in a trash can while searching the house of a drug suspect in Lefkosia, north Cyprus.

The suspect KS, a Turkish national, was found with half a kilo of drugs during a search of his house in Lefkosia, on January, 30. He was arrested and taken to the Lefkosia District Court on Thursday.

Police said on January 30, 2024, they received information that there were drugs at the suspect's residence. A police team from the Narcotics and Smuggling Prevention Directorate conducted a search at the suspect's house in Kızılbaş between 12.30 and 1.35pm on the same day during which they found, half a kilo of drugs in a trash can in the toilet.

Police said the suspect admitted in his statement that he bought the drugs from a wanted person on January 29 for 110,000 TL.

Police stated that the investigation had just begun, that the drug substance would be sent for analysis, that they were wanted persons, and requested that the suspect be detained for 2 days.
