Man detained for assaulting wife out of jealousy in Gönyeli

In another case of domestic violence in north Cyprus, a man has been detained for three days for allegedly beating his wife because he was jealous of his neighbor.

The suspect NBB who was arrested for beating his wife after an argument was arrested and taken to a court in Gönyeli on Monday on the charge of serious battery.

Police said on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at around 1:00pm, the suspect, a resident of Gönyeli, seriously beat his wife GB in the bedroom of their residence, on the grounds that he was jealous of his neighbor.

Police stated that the suspect was arrested the same day upon complaint. 

Noting that the investigation was continuing and that there were statements to be taken, the police requested that the suspect be detained for 3 days.
