Man who allegedly beat and accused his wife of cheating released on bail

A man who was arrested and detained for allegedly assaulting his wife for cheating on him was released on bail and to face trial in the future.

The incident happened in Gönyeli at around 3:00am on Thursday April 11 when the suspect C.Ç., severely beat his wife G.Ç on the grounds that she was cheating on him.

He was arrested following a complainant and then taken to court on the same day charged with serious assault.

Police told the court that the suspect was arrested after the incident, and the woman who was beaten was taken to Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu Hospital where she was checked by a doctor and an assault report was obtained. 

Police stated that the suspect admitted his crime in his statement adding that the investigation was completed.

Police said the suspect had no criminal record, and requested that he be placed on an appropriate guarantee.

Evaluating the testimony given in court, the judge emphasized the seriousness and prevalence of violent crimes against women.

The court banned the suspect from going abroad until his trial, ordered him to pay a cash guarantee of 35,000 TL, to have a TRNC citizen guarantor sign a promissory note of 100,00 TL, and to report to the police once a month.
