One in every three students is either illegal, missing or nowhere to be found: TRNC member of parliament

It has been revealed that the number of illegal students in north Cyprus out numbers the number of illegal workers in the country.

This was revealed by opposition party (CTP) deputy, Sami Özuslu during parliamentary session on Tuesday while talking on the latest political developments in north Cyprus.

According to Sami Özuslu, when looking at the ratios in the number of students, unregistered students correspond to 32 percent of the total number of students, and "Unregistered students have overtaken unregistered workers."

Özuslu shared some figures about informality in the light of the data he received from relevant institutions.

He stated that when we look at the ratios in the number of students, unregistered students correspond to 32 percent of the total number of students. He said, "One in every three students is either illegal, missing, or nowhere to be found."

Sharing that there are 73 thousand people who came for the purpose of working, Özuslu noted that 61 thousand of them were insured and 12 thousand were seen as illegal/lost, and pointed out that the rate was 19 percent.

Özuslu also read to the MPs a column about the experiences of a person who came to the country from Nigeria to work and said, "Every part of us hurts and bleeds."

Recalling today's exchange rates, Deputy Özuslu argued that "statements about auditing the market" cannot be seen in practice.

Özuslu criticized the Prime Minister's silence despite all the allegations and called on the government to "look in the mirror".

“You have ruined this country. We are drifting towards the point of being ashamed of being in this country. "We are becoming alienated from our country," he said.

Touching on the price increases in educational institutions, Özuslu said, "Who will receive education and how with these increases?" he asked, and claimed that public schools were not sufficient due to the unknown population.
