Suspect graduated from a 4-year course within 3 months of registration

A woman who was arrested in connection with the fake diploma scandal is said to has allegedly receiving a fake diploma from Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTÜ). 

The woman named only as BG who was a former Turkish Cypriot Airlines employee was arrested last week was brought back to court again on Monday on accusation of receiving a fake diploma from Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTÜ).

She was brought back to the Lefkosia district court again on Monday.

Police said it was determined that the suspect had graduated from the 4-year course from the faculty of psychology and was given a diploma on the same day she graduated from the course.

Explaining the findings about the incident in court, police said that the suspect was shown as having registered to the school on September 30, 2023, but in the research conducted through the system, her registration was made on June 5, 2023, the course was entered on June 19, 2023, and she graduated from the 4-year psychology faculty on the same day and was given a diploma.

The police stated that the suspect received approval by giving the diploma she received to the Turkish Embassy and the Ministry of National Education on August 28 2023.

Noting that the suspect was an active employee at the time in question, the police stated that it would be investigated whether she presented the diploma she received to the workplace.

The police stated that there were signs sought and statements to be taken and requested that the suspect be detained for 2 days.
