New visa and residence regulations by the TRNC government will come into force on October, 23

The new visa and residence regulations by the TRNC government will come into force on October, 23, said the TRNC Minister of Interior, Ayşegül Baybars.

Baybars made the announcement in a televised program with BRT on Tuesday.

According to the Minister, with the new bylaws that will come into force on 23 October, they can direct population policies in the country and make future plans in health and education.

She noted that such a comprehensive regulation was made for the first time in 67 years.

The new system will allow tourist and others register their information and purpose of visit with the immigration.

What we really want to do is come up with a system where tourists will enter their new addresses and phone numbers to be registered with the tourist visa upon arrival and will be classified according to the purposes of their stay, being accommodation at the hotel or any nearby accommodation.

The authorization procedure will be divided into 18 different categories like it is in the rest of the world.

The new resident permits will be divided into 18 different categories for different purpose. Some of the categories includes, purpose of internship, instructor, study, work, etc.

Visitors will no longer be allowed to stay more than 90 days and will be required to get a resident permit before the expiry of the 90 days or exit the country.

A brochure on the new regulations will be distributed again at the entrance and exit ports starting from the next week.

Baybars, indicated that the rate of population growth in Northern Cyprus is more than most countries in the world, said that they made the latest arrangements on the subject and that they would present the arrangements made to the Council of Ministers within 2 weeks.
