Two die, 16 test positive to coronavirus in south Cyprus

Two people have died of coronavirus in Southern Cyprus on Friday with 16 new cases confirmed bringing the total number of death to five and of confirmed cases to 162.

The Cyprus health ministry on Friday announced that the casualties are a 76-year-old Cypriot woman with underlying health problems, and a 47-year-old man from Greece. 

Total deaths and confirmed Covid-19 cases there are now 5 and 162 respectively.

The five dead are four men and one woman with average age of 63 years.

Of the 16 new cases, 9 were found through tracing of the contacts of people who were found positive to Coronavirus, 1 had returned from a trip, 1 person from the British Bases, 2 crew members from two different ships and 3 whose history is being investigated.

85 of the 162 confirmed cases are from contact with other people found positive to Coronavirus.
