Yellow weather warning for Tuesday, temperatures to hit 40 degrees

Just when you thought is summer gone.... boom, it comes back with a full force without some kind of warning.

The Cyprus met office has issued a yellow alert warning of extreme high temperatures for Tuesday as a hot air mass continues to grip the island.

Temperatures will rise to 40C inland on Tuesday, about five degrees Celsius above the seasonal average.

The yellow alert is in force from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Cyprus has experienced a particularly hot and longer summer with temperatures stuck in the 40s for several weeks in July and August, Cyprus Mail reports.

Good news, as there will be some respite around the corner with temperatures set to go down as from Wednesday with a noticeable drop of about 6 degrees inland.

Temperatures will fall further on Thursday and Friday.
