A student and a Turkish Cypriot busted in drug trade at Hamitköy park

About 110 grams of cannabis, 2 grams of cocaine, sensitive scales and 100 TL cash were found in the house of a student who was busted for drugs by narcotic police in Hamitköy.

Two suspects, who are students in the country were arrested at the weekend in Hamitköy, Lefkosa and taken to court on charges of "taking drugs", "giving" and "saving".

Police officer who gave sworn testimony in the court, said one of the suspect was busted at about 7:40pm while selling drugs in a park in Hamitköy to another suspect during the ambush mission by the police.

The first suspect is said to have received a small paper from the second and paid money in return.

The police said one of the suspect on sighting the police threw 1 gram of cannabis type narcotics into an empty land.

The police found sensitive scales believed to contain drug residues, drugs believed to be 110 grams of cannabis, drugs believed to be 2 grams of cocaine, drugs believed to be 15 grams of sentetic cannabionid in a search on the home of the the second suspect.

The money the second suspect received from the first suspect was taken as evidence.  

Speaking at the court, the second suspect requested a psychiatrist check.  

The ordered the suspects to be detained for 4 days.
