See moment Ghanaian female MP sat on male colleagues lap in Parliament, wife threatens to sue her (video)

It was a chaotic scene in the Ghanaian parliament last week after lawmakers exchanged blows over who takes the majority side.

In the mix, there was also side drama, as a female lawmaker sat on a male colleagues lap in parliament.

In a footage which has gone viral on social media, it was gathered that the fight was between NPP and NDC members and centered on who takes the majority side in the parliament and who also produces the next Speaker of Parliament.

It was however gathered that while NPP has the majority in parliament with 137 seats, the NDC has 136 seats.

Soldiers were eventually sent in to restore order in the parliament.

The married politician, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful was seen comfortably sitting on another man’s lap in the Parliament before a fight broke out between NPP and NDC members over who takes the majority side in the parliament following the dissolution of the 7th parliament.

In an interview, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the MP-elect for Juaboso whose lap, Mrs. Ursula was seen sitting explained the situation.

When the New Patriotic Party MPs came in, they saw that we were on the right side so they went to the left but Ursula refused. Cletus Avoka was sitting down and decided to go to the washroom, by the time he came back Ursula had taken his seat. We tried to persuade her but she declined. She also left the seat and I sat on it. When she came she just sat on my lap. She didn’t say anything to me, she just sat and I didn’t say anything, he said.

Meanwhile, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has said his wife is threatening to sue Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, for harassing him in Parliament.

Mr Akandoh, however, said his wife, who is angered by Mrs Owusu-Ekuful’s conduct, “has threatened to sue her for sexual harassment.”
