Student in jail for beating and forcibly confiscating another student's mobile phone and passport

A student only identified as G.M was arrested and detained in Lefkosa for allegedly battering another student, and forcibly confiscating both her mobile phone and passport.

The suspect who was arrested at about 11:30pm on Thursday last week in Lefkosa was brought to court for the crimes of 'robbery' and 'serious battering', on Friday last week.

Police said they are looking for another person named E.N regarding the incident, and stated that there were statements to be taken within the scope of the investigation.

Police said the suspect punched the victim on various parts of her body and severely battered her due to the debt issue between them at an address that has not yet been determined.

It was also reported by the police in the court that the suspect took the victim's mobile phone and Nigerian passport by force and committed the crime of robbery.

Police stated that the phone and passport in question were detected and taken as evidence during a court-ordered search.

Evaluating the testimony given in court, Judge Temay SaÄŸer ordered the suspect to be kept in police custody for 3 days so that the investigation could be conducted safely.
