TRNC determined to start face-to-face education - Minister of Education

TRNC government has said it is determined to start face-to-face education in a healthy, safe and uninterrupted manner.

Minister of National Education and Culture, Olgun Amcaoğlu made the statement on Thursday, stating that the Ministry continue it's meetings with all stakeholders in order to ensure that schools are opened for face-to-face education in a healthy, safe and uninterrupted manner.  

Amcaoğlu noted that they will continued their focus group meetings in order to ensure healthy, safe and uninterrupted opening of schools in the 2021-2022 academic year. 

“We are determined and insistent on switching to face-to-face training. We cannot allow our children and young people to lose another year. We continue our work at full speed,” Amcaoğlu said.

“Opinions will be forwarded to the Communicable Diseases High Committee”
Stating that they listened to the views of the stakeholders, Minister Amcaoğlu said that the coordination mechanism to be established between the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of National Education and Culture, the response plan to be followed in case of close contacts, contacts or positive cases, and the opinions on regional and school-based measures will be given to the Supreme Committee on Communicable Diseases, the authorized body. 

Noting that the stakeholders attending the meeting underlined that schools should not be closed in the 2021-2022 academic year or if a closure comes to the agenda again, Education Minister Amcaoğlu emphasized the necessity of working together on this issue and working to raise awareness of the public at this point.
