Man assaults wife because she refused their guest from coming to their home

A man who assaulted his wife because she doesn't want guests in their home will face trial for assault.

The suspect identified only as A.B, was arrested at the weekend and taken to an EU court on charges of "Serious Batter."

According to a police statement, the man committed the act on Saturday, October, 1 in their apartment in Lefkosa.

Police said the suspect, seriously beat his wife on the grounds that she "doesn't want guests to come to the house."

Police officer who spoke in court said argument broke out between them on the grounds that she did not want her guests to come to the house on 01.10.2022. He severely battered his wife, first in the car and then at her mother's house.

The police also stated that the battered woman was checked by a doctor and a doctor's report was obtained that there were marks of assault and force on her body.

Stating that the suspect was arrested by obtaining a pending warrant from the Lefkosa District Court, the Police said that the suspect did not have a similar criminal record and demanded that the suspect, who was found to have a legal status in the TRNC, be given a suitable guarantee until their case is heard.

The suspect was released on bail and banned from travelling abroad.
