Man arrested for sexual harassment in Taşkınköy

A man who was once arrested for sexual harassment and threatening a woman with death and then sentenced to 18 months in prison has been rearrested for the same crime.

The suspect identified only as MM was arrested on the afternoon of Monday, November, 28 for harassing a woman in a car parked in a public place on Şehit Kemal Ünal Caddesi in Taşkınköy on the same day. Police said he is a resident of the street.

He was taken to a Lefkosa District Court on charges of "sexual harassment".

Police said he told the woman sitting in the front of the vehicle; "I would miss it if I was with you, are you still around?" 

Police said he kept disturbing the woman.

The court ordered that he be detained for 3 days pending investigation. 

In 2020, the suspect was sentenced to 18 months in prison after he was found guilty of threatening a woman with death in Iskele.

Police said he pulled a knife when the woman, a foreign national who was walking on a beach in Iskele in June, 2020 refused his sexual advances.
